About Supreme National Economic Council (SNEC)

SNEC was established on Friday, September 07th 2001. Under the Royal Degree number SN/RKT/0807/393 dated on 30th August 2007, SNEC has role and function:

Verify and prepare the key analytical document, research and speeches and address all the initiative vision, policies and strategic reform and socio-economic development to the head of the Government
Provide recommendation to the head of the Government in order to ensure the quality and consistency of the socio-economic development policies within and between all sectors and suggest to the head of the Government to give the clear direction to implement smoothly all the policies, strategies and annual plans and public investment programs
Propose the actual measurements to improve the socio-economic management and good governance to the head of the Government
Assist the head of the Government to monitor and sum up all the reports related to the annual plan and other development programs of the Government and give the recommendation to the head of the Government to direct and accelerate the implementation of those plans and programs
Assist the head of the Government to monitor and sum up all the implementations of the reforms and other initiative programs related to the socio-economic development launched directly by the head of the Government
Sum up and brief the report for the head of the Government on the national, regional and international economic situation and provide the recommendation to the head of the Government to harmonize the national economic policies with the regional and international economic trend
Implement other tasks at the head of the Government’s order.

Under the Royal decree number NS/RKT/0807/393, SNEC is managed by:

A chairman, assisted by a number of vice chairmen who have knowledge and capacity to analyze and prepare vision, policies and strategies for national economic development.
At least 5 SNEC members who have qualification, knowledge and experience in the fields of economics, finance, laws, commerce, agriculture, and management of nature, environment or industry.
SNEC Secretariat is an operational institution which is directed and managed by a secretary general, assisted by a number of deputy secretary generals.
SNEC Secretariat has 4 divisions:
